TITLE Boxing Club Cool Springs, TN is showing some love this month to one of our most influential members, Megan Snyder. Facing one of your biggest fears can be extremely tough. But, facing more than one within a lifetime is hardly imaginable. Megan has experienced health issues since she was 8 years old. She never let this stop her when it came to her fitness or her overall lifestyle. When she joined TITLE Boxing Club, we knew that we had a very special member. One that would not let anything stand in her way, and one that was dedicated to the process.
Here at TITLE Boxing Club Cool Springs, TN we focus on building strength through the mind and the body. Our high intensity interval training workouts will teach you how to overcome fatigue and weakness. Every hit/kick to the bag, sit up, squat, and weight that you lift will bring you closer to achieving your inner greatness. When you are feeling that you have nothing more to give, we will be behind you to push you further. At TITLE, you have the opportunity to sculpt your body, strengthen your mind and burn calories all at the same time. TITLE Boxing Club isn’t just about building a fitness community, we are about building a fitness family. Megan Snyder is a great example of a member that has not only overcome obstacles in her personal life, but she has hit her goals and has believed in the system that we have built. Here is what Megan has to say about her journey:
I’ve always struggled with my health. I was diagnosed with Diabetes at age 8, Ulcerative Colitis at age 14, Retinal neuropathy at age 27, Renal Failure at age 28, and Hashimoto’s at age 30. I experienced sepsis and c-diff in the span of 2 months, and went a whole 5 months without being able to poop last year alone. I wore a colostomy bag for 2 months during the creation of my j pouch. I’ve undergone 9 surgeries, countless scopes and tests, and experienced the side effects of an ungodly amount of medications. This list of obstacles isn’t one I’m ashamed of – these are not things that I believe make me a strong woman, and they aren’t things that I think people should pity me for. But this list of things is something that has morphed my view of health into something negative and hopeless.
I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to get in shape – trying to feel better – and trying to change what I looked like. I would try something, have some sort of medical set back, and then just throw in the towel. My efforts always end up seeming pointless. I was never going to have sculpted muscles – because my body just can’t absorb nutrients, so how could I even build those muscles I wanted? My digestion issues always keep me from having an “ideal” diet, so I might as well stick to the carbs and sugars that my stomach could digest. To me, healthy meant looking good, and let’s be honest, I just knew I was not going to get there. Naturally, I would give up, get upset and sad, and then try the whole process again. Then I found TITLE Cool Springs…
I love TITLE not just because the way it makes me feel physically, but also because it’s a community. The trainers don’t just coach at you, they coach you
up. The other members of the club push you through hard partner rounds and cheer you on. It’s a great feeling to have someone you can talk to about your progress, to encourage you on your journey, and to stay friends outside of the gym.
In April, I won the TITLE Check-In Challenge. This competition didn’t require me to be better in terms of technique or beating someone in rounds of boxing. This competition just required you to try, to put in the effort, and to show up. It sounds simple enough, and I even joke about how it’s my adult version of a participation trophy. But what this competition did for me was help me push my limits. When I would typically want to quit, call it a day, and go home and rest – I didn’t. I stayed. I put the hours in and showed up as often as I could. I boxed 352 rounds in the month of April. Having this competition showed me that my body can handle more, that giving up doesn’t have to be an option, and if my mind is in it, my body will be too. In the end, I didn’t just have more rounds than anyone else – I also improved my technique. I got better at my movements, got faster, and could move more defensively. I still have a long way to go to be good, but I’m better, and I had a lot of fun getting there!
Thank you TITLE Cool Springs for helping me now view health and wellness as something positive and for always pushing me farther than I can take myself!
Megan, we know that you are not only a wonderful person, but you are a great asset and piece of the TITLE family here in Cool Springs. Thank you for believing in us, as much as we believe in you. Continue to push to hit your goals and to become greater tomorrow than you were today.
