Law

Law grew up in the Wilmington, NC area and moved to Greensboro a little over 5 years ago.  He enjoys participating in all sports, outdoor activities, and extreme sports.  Searching for an alternative to weight lifting, Law found boxing/kickboxing almost 4 years ago and never looked back.  Like Laura, Law is a huge Duke fan.  Go Blue Devils!!  (editor’s note – Laura is a die hard Wolfpacker !)

My personal mantra:
Be a YES

My training style is:
Brave, Transforming

My why:
There is a "next level" inside all of us. If I can help others find the strength to keep pushing and achieve results they never thought possible, I have done my job.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
Life is not always easy. We are challenged every day and we all fail. Your response is what ultimately matters. I fight to learn, improve, and rise above it all. Never stop fighting to move forward.

Josh

Josh is originally from Central New Mexico but has lived here in Greensboro for nearly 16 years with his wife and two children. When he isn’t hitting the heavy bag, Josh spends his days punching the key board either creating risk analysis reports or typing up research papers as he pursues his master’s degree from UNCG. He believes he was cursed at a young age to be a Miami Dolphin fan but does enjoy rooting for his team no matter how horrible they might be. His passion for fitness and desire for excellence comes from his years spent playing sports and later racing in several triathlons.

My personal mantra:
There is nothing in life worth doing that is easy. If it were, everyone would do it.

My training style is:
Transforming

My why:
Because nothing great has ever been achieved while sitting on a couch.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
I believe that pushing ourselves physically induces the pain and discomfort necessary to prepare us when life delivers some of its own unexpected pain and discomfort.

Suraya

Suraya, currently a student at UNC-G, studies psychology and sociology, in hopes of becoming an attorney. Her passion in law was sparked after she met a death row exonerate, as she swore to bring equality to our criminal justice system. Suraya began her martial arts journey at the early age of six, after convincing her mother to take her out of ballet and replace it with Taekwon-Do. Suraya is a 4th degree black belt, with experience in boxing/kickboxing, self-defense and weapons training. Suraya loves to travel, especially back home to Syria, and to see new places, meet new people and eat good food.

My personal mantra:
Take the shoes off of your teeth and quit running your mouth about what you are going to do. Put them on your feet, and take some steps or run towards accomplishing your goals

My training style is:
Authentic, Transforming

My why:
I love to help others be the best that they can be. I've had endless support throughout my life with amazing people in my corner (even those who are not in my corner help me become the best me). Not everyone has the luxury of having a support system; Being that support for others, whether it is big or small, makes me genuinely happy

What gives me my fighting spirit:
Myself. Growing up, I was not confident in myself and struggled with anxiety and self-image/self-esteem issues. Achieving my first black belt at the age of nine gave me a sense of accomplishment, which is a feeling that still pushes me to this day. Being able to watch myself grow, throughout the constant doubts and challenges, and building myself to be a strong, independent woman is what keeps me going. Being able to inspire people to do the same thing provides me with a feeling of happiness, seeing that anyone can overcome a challenge as long as they are determined to do so.

Rachael

My personal mantra:
It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down. It only matters how many times you get back up.

My training style is:
Connected

My why:
I am motivated to help others to help themselves. In turn, they help me want to be the best I can be. I love to see people work harder and achieve more than they thought possible. I love to see the changes made in the whole person when goals are reached.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
I have always been a fighter and it’s been a good thing since I have faced many traumas and tragedies in my life. I have been through two armed robberies, a divorce, and my second husband passing away when our baby was 5 months old. Through all of those times I have managed to pick myself up and keep fighting. My family, friends, and faith are what give me my fighting spirit.

Our Club Leadership

Meet the Ellison Family,

WHY BOXING?

It is a question I field a lot. The quick answer, it is complicated.

The last five years have served up a series of surprises for our family. For a group that typically walks the straight-and-narrow that would rarely be found without a plan, some of these unforeseens felt catastrophic. How does one plan for a friend and neighbor to steal your life savings in an investment scheme? Rarely is anyone prepared for a phone call that your spouse has been in a devastating accident, I certainly was not.

Lucky for us, unlike most victims of fraud we were able to recoup a large amount of our savings but that “win” came with a two year legal battle and months of uncertainty. Mike survived seven cervical spine fractures but still struggles daily physically. His accident brought our entire family closer to support him.

These events put our family on a trajectory that we would have never imagined or predicted But on the other side of both events we realized that we were strong and resilient. Never ones to take risk, we came to the realization that the “safe” future we imagined was not in the cards and we needed to take control.

Boxing was control. ESPN did a comprehensive ranking of 60 different sports and found that the toughest sport was boxing. They looked at 10 different categories including degree of difficulty, speed and eye-hand coordination. The category that pushed boxing ahead of all other sports – NERVE. So for a family that had been pushed so far out of our comfort zones, we seemed to have a fresh dose of nerve.

TITLE Boxing welcomes all bodies, weights and abilities. From the stressed out mom (insert my picture here) to the overwhelmed employee, to the the person fighting a battle no one knows about. There is something truly magical about hitting that heavy bag and we are here to help you harvest that magic and win your “fight”. It might take nerve to walk in the first time, but determination will bring you back. Why boxing? Why not.

FAQ's

I’ve heard the classes are intense; do I need to be in great shape to do the workouts?

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked out in a while or have never boxed before, you can finish the workout feeling great! You’ll see that everyone goes at their own pace, but believe us that once you’re here, you’ll be inspired to give it your very best!

What makes TITLE different than other fitness studios?

Boxing is a great workout, perhaps one of the most challenging of all sports, and we want to bring you the intensity of the training, minus the impact. We’ll teach you how to roll with the punches by pushing you further than you thought possible.

I’m new to boxing; will someone show me the basics?

You bet! All of our classes are taught by instructors who will show you the ropes from the beginning. We’ll help you wrap your hands and walk you through the basic fundamentals. Everyone in class is at a different level, so take a deep breath and go at your own pace!

Do you have showers?

We do have a private shower for you to clean up after your workout and please bring any essentials you may need!
