Bobby

Bobby became a member back in April of 2019. Bobby’s dad boxed in the Golden Gloves when he was a teenager and Bobby aspired to be just like him. With the boxing mentality in the family, he and his brother had typical brotherly fights which were always solved by going in the back yard and putting on the gloves. Once he found TITLE, he found his passion for boxing never left. Bobby joined to better his personal health and his life was changed for the better! He became a trainer to encourage others and prove that you can do anything you set your mind to.

My personal mantra:
"Smile through the pain."

My training style is:
Energetic & Fun

My why:
My life was transformed here as a member so I want to help others change their lives as well.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My personal health and well-being.

Morgan

When Morgan was a sophomore in high school, her dad was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. As her dad recovered for many weeks, it made her realize how important health and fitness are not only to help fight disease, but to live life to its fullest. Throughout high school, she became obsessed with HIIT workouts like P90X and Insanity. This inspired her to make her own workouts and incorporate weights, which gave her even better results. Once she graduated high school she became certified as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and immediately got hired at Snap Fitness as the Manager and personal trainer, where she stayed for five years. This is when she immersed herself more into weight training. She absolutely fell in love with how empowered it made her feel. She has spent a decade acquiring knowledge through trial and error, endless Google searches and interacting with other trainers and clients. She realized how much information there is on health and fitness and that it can seem really overwhelming and confusing, so her passion is to help others reach their goals by taking the guessing game out of fitness, and finding a path that aligns with each individual. She loves to inspire others to realize that they have the potential to push their limits and discover that they are capable of more than they ever imagined.

My personal mantra:
"Don't let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game."

My training style is:
Authentic & Connected

My why:
The first time I saw Gina Carano fight, I was mesmerized. Ever since, I have been a huge fan of UFC for over a decade and the first time I walked into TITLE I felt that same energy! I love having both of my passions for fitness and fighting collide together. I also love switching things up and being able to show people that there are fun ways to stay in shape!

What gives me my fighting spirit:
I have seen so many friends and family members suffering with illness and disease and most of these issues could be resolved just by working out and staying healthy. This inspires me to want to help educate other people and live a healthy lifestyle myself. We only get one body so we have to take care of it and use it optimally!

Wanda’s Story: Choosing Joy

Wednesday November 7, 2018

Wanda Kok, 58, was born with a rare genetic lung disease called immotile cilia syndrome. In Nov. 2014, she was told she would need a double lung transplant. Through the process Wanda says she learned how to choose joy. On Dec. 4, 2015 Wanda underwent a double lung transplant at Spectrum Health Butterworth hospital. Just days later she began to feel herself recover. "I felt fantastic," she remembered. Shortly after the transplant, Wanda had a stroke in the ICU, but refused to give up the fight. She didn't waver, even after a fall fractured her back in five places, or when she developed post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder. Despite all the bumps along the road, Wanda keeps moving forward. Wanda gains her strength from her solid faith. Wanda hasn't let the disease slow her down. She takes boxing classes at TILE Boxing Club Kentwood 4 days a week. Wanda is an encouragement...

FAQ's

I’ve heard the classes are intense; do I need to be in great shape to do the workouts?

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked out in a while or have never boxed before, you can finish the workout feeling great! You’ll see that everyone goes at their own pace, but believe us that once you’re here, you’ll be inspired to give it your very best!

I don’t want to get hit; is this a contact workout?

No—not ever! Each person in class has their own heavy bag to workout on, plus their own space to move around the bag. Trust us, you won’t even realize anyone else is in the class because you’ll be so focused on the workout! And, rest easy, we never allow sparring or fighting at TITLE Boxing Club.

What makes TITLE different than other fitness studios?

Boxing is a great workout, perhaps one of the most challenging of all sports, and we want to bring you the intensity of the training, minus the impact. We’ll teach you how to roll with the punches by pushing you further than you thought possible.

I’m new to boxing; will someone show me the basics?

You bet! All of our classes are taught by instructors who will show you the ropes from the beginning. We’ll help you wrap your hands and walk you through the basic fundamentals. Everyone in class is at a different level, so take a deep breath and go at your own pace!

Can I bring my children with me?

We do not offer childcare services at TITLE Boxing Club. However, children over the age of eight are welcome to work out with you here and join as a member! Ask us about our Family Membership options.

What do I need to bring to class? How early do I need to arrive?

Hand wraps are essential for your protection and mandatory for class. You can bring your own or buy them here. We’ll have gloves for you to borrow your first time, and you might want to bring a bottle of water and towel! Plan on arriving 20 minutes early so we can get you settled and wrap your hands.

I’ve never hit anything before. Will I hurt myself?

For a beginner, the most important thing is to learn the proper form. The good news is that we’ll teach you! As you progress, you’ll be able to throw several variations of punches from different positions and develop your own punching technique to fit your style. People are usually surprised at how much they love hitting the heavy bag!
