Taylor

Taylor is a boxer, a full-time nursing student, and an Emergency Medical Technician at Tufts Medical Center. She found a passion in boxing about two years ago. When she started boxing, it was originally to lose the weight she had been struggling to lose. Fast forward to today, Taylor has lost 80 lbs, and she is training in boxing 5 days a week. When you take her class, you’ll see that Taylor likes to teach not only how to throw punches in the correct form, but how to balance your body and utilize the footwork and head movement.

My personal mantra:
"Believe and you can achieve."

My training style is:
Heart

My why:
The reason I love to box and love to teach boxing is that I'm so grateful to be able to exercise everyday. I have worked with hundreds of patients that couldn’t even walk; I will never take for granted my health and ability to exercise and box the way I do.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
After accomplishing a goal I never thought I could, I wanted to help you accomplish your goals. You’re not alone - I’m here to show you the way!

×

Shane

Growing up in Danvers, Shane played football and baseball. He played both sports right up until high school when he couldn’t get cleared to play because of several concussions. Shane started Muay Thai in 2011 at DWMMA Salem right before all this happened. After a little more than a year of training there with his brother, Shane transferred to Fenix BJJ. He stayed until 2015 while training much more and competing at NAGA in RI. Almost two more years went by before he got back to kickboxing here at TITLE, in 2016. At the beginning of 2018, he got certified as a MT Fitness Instructor and started coaching around the Northshore of Boston. Shane has been holding focus pads since he started training, and he feels that empowering people through the padwork will always be very gratifying. Working here is Shane’s dream come true.

My personal mantra:
"Have a white belt mentality."

My training style is:
Connected

My why:
I'm always looking out for the underdog.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My fighting spirit comes from life and the challenges it brings.

×

Joe

Joe started Boxing at the age of 11. He originally started out at a place over in Peabody and then eventually moved to a gym in Saugus (Tomacellos boxing club, which is now named JR13 Boxing). Jake fought amature for most of his teenage years. Then, he took a small break from boxing. Jake ended up competing in powerlifting for a few years, gave that up, and ended up boxing again. He had his last fight October of 2016.

My personal mantra:
"Go hard or go home."

My training style is:
Authentic

My why:
I love teaching people the same things that I was lucky enough to learn and be a part of. I want other people to be able to experience the power and strength that boxing can provide.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My competitiveness and will to fight.

×

Tom

An Everett native born and raised, Tom is our resident drill sergeant! Tom is a retired Everett Police officer who worked in Special Operations. He was injured in a training accident after falling through a roof several stories. Inspired by his physical therapy after the accident, and his passion for fitness, Tom changed careers to fitness and has never looked back. Tom has been training Group fitness for almost ten years, and he has been teaching at TITLE since our grand opening three and a half years ago. He is NASM-certified and only has one speed from bell-to-bell! He accepts nothing but high-intensity from start to finish, and he brings it each and every class!

My personal mantra:
"Can’t stop, don’t stop, won’t stop!"

My training style is:
Authentic

My why:
It's what I do. It's why I'm here!

What gives me my fighting spirit:
After conquering my own traumatic life events, I wanted to help people achieve their own personal goals.

×

Stephanie

Having played competitive soccer and basketball her whole life, Stephanie comes from an athletic background. She was a high school coach for two varsity sports for some years. She started with TITLE in 2012 when the doors opened in Danvers, and she became a trainer in 2017. In October of 2017, she made her debut as an amateur boxer, and she plans to continue her training in and out of the ropes. Stephanie loves to motivate and challenge people to become the best versions of themselves.

My personal mantra:
"I can, and I will. Watch me."

My training style is:
Energetic and Fun

My why:
I believe I am here for a reason and that my purpose is greater than my challenges. She who has a ‘why’ can endure the ‘how.’

What gives me my fighting spirit:
In life, we don't necessarily find happiness in our jobs every day, but we can feel fulfilled by our work if it makes us feel part of something bigger than ourselves. That in itself is worth fighting for.

×

Rachael

Rachael is 22 years old and was raised in Byfield, MA. She grew up dancing, acting, playing soccer, and running track. Her competitive edge has pushed her to try new things and constantly improve in all aspects of life. Starting as a member at TITLE Boxing Club, she quickly became addicted and had the desire to learn more. Coach Chris Gerhardt saw that determination and took her under his wing, working on her technique and building her knowledge of boxing. While becoming a trainer, she gained confidence and skills as well as an amazing TITLE family that has always shown her their support. She loves being able to teach and help others through her work at the club. Rachael is currently a dance teacher and a student majoring in paralegal. When she’s at TITLE, Rachael challenges the members and expects them to give it their all!

My personal mantra:
"Work hard and believe in yourself."

My training style is:
Fun

My why:
I want to help people find strength that they didn't know they had.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
I get my fighting spirit from my own life experiences. Everyone is going through their own battle, and I want to have a positive impact on that fight.

×

Leah

Growing up, Leah played soccer, and she’s done traditional martial arts since she was 11 years old. She is still actively training in martial arts and loves every minute of it. When she had surgery on her foot years back, she needed some kind of rehab to keep herself still punching and working out – especially since she had been doing this most of her life. It was hard for her to stay sidelined. She was stuck in a boot, and it was going to take at least a year for her to be able to walk correctly, never mind being able to even kick again. She decided to join TITLE Boxing Club, and it was the best decision she ever made. She was able to work her upper body, slowly get her footwork back, and learn a different fighting style… boxing! She became addicted and couldn’t wait to hit the bag. TITLE Boxing Club has changed her life and helped her not give up – even when she kept having set backs. She kept getting back up and hitting that bag, and she loved every minute of it!

My personal mantra:
“You will never know your limits unless you push yourself to them.”

My training style is:
Energetic

My why:
I became a TITLE trainer because I love what I do. I love the sport and the energy it gives off. When I see everyone hit that bag and working out, I watch their confidence grow as they push themselves and don't give up. So many positive outcomes come from hitting the bag, and I want to help everyone reach them.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
There are so many different fighting styles, and each style has a different reasoning behind its techniques. I want to learn them all to help me become a better martial artist but also so that I can have more knowledge on how to approach different fighting scenarios.

×

Kenny

Kenny is the Owner here at TITLE Boxing Club Danvers, Saugus, and Salem. He has worked with the franchise since 2012, owning multiple locations as well as playing multiple roles in the national franchise to help develop its brand standards and product offerings. He is from North Reading, MA and has spent most of his life in Boston’s Northshore. The opportunity arose to follow his passion in fitness and to open the first TITLE Boxing Club in New England. He took the opportunity and paved the way for the following 18 locations that currently exist around the Boston Area.

My personal mantra:
“Motivate. Dominate.”

My training style is:
Authentic and Fun

My why:
I love being a TITLE trainer because fighting lives in all of us - whether it be in the sport, or in traffic, or in whatever else life throws at you. We teach how to fight, although not each other, but the mentality it takes to do it. This translates through class, and its residual effects in life are amazing to see. Boxing works as weight loss, stress relief, empowerment, and a way of developing a strong community. Seeing this on a daily basis through member successes is a major privilege of working with TITLE Boxing Club.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
The members. As trainers, we get a direct view of hard work and determination. Seeing the sweat, the focused eyes, and the determined muscles working through each round is amazing. When that bell rings, a member’s true personality starts to shine through the conditioned way life has forced it to be. Boxing is motivation + education + accountability, and when these 3 things are combined through fitness, anything is achievable. The workout you receive is the easy part. There is no question that hitting that heavy bag will get you where you want to be physically; however, no one is prepared for where it can take them mentally. You’ll have to see that for yourself.

×

Jake

From member to trainer, Jake was inspired by his own mother who’s another TITLE trainer. He recently made the switch from being a member and started teach boxing and kickboxing classes. Jake loves the whole TITLE family, and he believes that it’s a fun place to hang around.

My personal mantra:
"Just be Happy."

My training style is:
Fun

My why:
I was inspired by the workout itself. I enjoy helping people reach new goals and improve their skills.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My fighting spirit comes from my dedication and will power to commit and execute.

×

Ikaro

Growing up in a Brazilian household, soccer was in Ikaro’s blood. At the age of three, Ikaro took his first step into a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym, and that was his calling. Studying the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu opened doors for him in the fitness community. As a high school student, wrestling became his sport of choice. He placed top 5 in the state of MA, and it earned him the opportunity to participate in national competitions. Fitness has been part of Ikaro’s life since he can remember, but remember, it is never too late for you to start.

My personal mantra:
"No matter how tired you think you are, never stop hitting the bag."

My training style is:
Energetic and Fun

My why:
I enjoy educating and pushing members one punch at a time.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
Being a part of mixed martial arts gym has taught me everything I know, but watching people grow within a sport that's so personal to me makes my job a million times easier.

×

Greg

Greg, who has been training with TITLE for two years, started his boxing career at 19 years old. He had participated in 35 amateur fights, including winning the Golden Gloves. He turned pro, and since then, Greg has had 13 professional fights under his belt with a record of 11-2-1. Currently, he’s the Massachusetts Junior Middleweight Champion.

My personal mantra:
"Keep your hands up in the game of life."

My training style is:
Authentic

My why:
I became a TITLE trainer because I wanted to teach people that they can solve most of their problems with their fists and a heavy bag.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My fighting spirit comes from the idea that, once you enter that ring, you really understand what type of person you are. There's no faking it. There's no hiding. You either got it, or your don’t!

×

Phil

Having played elite level hockey and soccer his whole life, Phil has a diverse athletic background. He started boxing in an off-ice training program in high school. After that, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. He started Personal Training in 2009, becoming ACE-certified (American Council on Exercise) and has been training ever since. Phil started training with TITLE in January of 2013, and by June, he began traveling the country as a national trainer for TITLE Boxing Club. For over three years, Phil opened TITLE Boxing locations across the nation, led seminars for trainers and franchisees, and trained hundreds of trainers in teaching the Power Hour class. In April of 2016, he moved from Michigan to Massachusetts! He got into training because he loves helping people feel better about themselves, gain confidence, and help themselves be the change in their lives!

My personal mantra:
"The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday!"

My training style is:
Connected, Energetic and Transforming

My why:
The most gratifying feeling is helping our members become the best versions of themselves that they can be.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
Family, friends, and the desire to always be the best give me my fighting spirit!

From the moment class begins, TITLE Boxing Club Saugus provides you with a full-body workout that incorporates the fundamentals of a true boxer’s workout to strengthen and tone your arms, legs, back, and core. Each workout begins with the warmups – a HIIT workout that combines trainer-led boxing with cardio drills and stretches. This gets your heart pumping and your mind ready for the next phase of your boxing class – the rounds. During the rounds, your TITLE trainer will lead you through a series of jab, hook, and cross combinations where you’ll lay it all on the heavy bag for three minutes; then, you’ll rest for a minute before jumping into the next round. Once you’ve finished the rounds, our trainers will lead you through an ab workout where you’ll use weighted medicine balls to define your core. Through each of our boxing fitness classes, our trainers challenge you to hit the bag and fight through your personal challenges – one jab, hook, and cross at a time.

FAQ's

I’ve heard the classes are intense; do I need to be in great shape to do the workouts?

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked out in a while or have never boxed before, you can finish the workout feeling great! You’ll see that everyone goes at their own pace, but believe us that once you’re here, you’ll be inspired to give it your very best!

I don’t want to get hit; is this a contact workout?

No—not ever! Each person in class has their own heavy bag to workout on, plus their own space to move around the bag. Trust us, you won’t even realize anyone else is in the class because you’ll be so focused on the workout! And, rest easy, we never allow sparring or fighting at TITLE Boxing Club.

What makes TITLE different than other fitness studios?

Boxing is a great workout, perhaps one of the most challenging of all sports, and we want to bring you the intensity of the training, minus the impact. We’ll teach you how to roll with the punches by pushing you further than you thought possible.

I’m new to boxing; will someone show me the basics?

You bet! All of our classes are taught by instructors who will show you the ropes from the beginning. We’ll help you wrap your hands and walk you through the basic fundamentals. Everyone in class is at a different level, so take a deep breath and go at your own pace!

Can I bring my children with me?

We do not offer childcare services at TITLE Boxing Club. However, children over the age of eight are welcome to work out with you here and join as a member! Ask us about our Family Membership options.

What do I need to bring to class? How early do I need to arrive?

Hand wraps are essential for your protection and mandatory for class. You can bring your own or buy them here. We’ll have gloves for you to borrow your first time, and you might want to bring a bottle of water and towel! Plan on arriving 20 minutes early so we can get you settled and wrap your hands.

I’ve never hit anything before. Will I hurt myself?

For a beginner, the most important thing is to learn the proper form. The good news is that we’ll teach you! As you progress, you’ll be able to throw several variations of punches from different positions and develop your own punching technique to fit your style. People are usually surprised at how much they love hitting the heavy bag!
