Josh

Josh grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was involved in team sports (basketball, wrestling, soccer). He later trained in Taekwondo for 4 years and competed locally. He studied Psychology at ISU, training briefly in Judo, Taekwondo, and MMA clubs. After earning his bachelor’s degree, Josh began training in Muay Thai and had his first fight a few months later. He gained a deep respect for the sport, fell in love with the team culture, and dedicated life outside work to compete in kickboxing and Muay Thai. He has trained for 3 years- attending seminars, traveling to Thailand, and gaining experience in national tournaments around the US. As he continues to develop as a Thai boxer, Josh is excited to bring his experience to Title Boxing Club!

My personal mantra:
Take a leap of faith

My training style is:

My why:
I love seeing people come in to push themselves and brining them positive vibes

What gives me my fighting spirit:
I survived a severe clinical depression and found appreciation for my freedom when it was over. I am driven to expand myself and perspective of the world.

James

James is a martial artist and athlete.  He is a black belt in taekwondo and karate.  Additionally, James has three styles of kickboxing (Sanshou, Muay Thai, and Dutch).  He has been training in martial arts since age 14 and competing for the past 7 years.  Nutrition, martial arts, and fitness is his true passion.

My personal mantra:
Never give up, never back down!

My training style is:
energetic

My why:
I love training, people, and I want to help change lives

Victoria

Victoria has been a kickboxing, boxing, and strength training instructor since 2016. She is currently finishing up her Bachelor’s degree in Education at Iowa State and hopes to become a special education teacher. She has a passion for teaching and for fitness. TITLE allows her to express her creativity and teaching skills.

My personal mantra:
When life gets tough, put on your boxing gloves.

My training style is:
authentic

My why:
TITLE allows me to combine my love for teaching with my love for fitness.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My fighting spirit comes from overcoming my social anxiety and my drive for personal growth.

Tracy

Tracy has a BA from Grand View University in Kinesiology.  She is an ACE certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist. She has been in the fitness field for 5 years.  She has also demonstrated great strength by being a cancer survivor, completed 2 full marathons and over 10 half marathons!  She’s a motorcycle enthusiast, loves camping, boating and being outdoors.  Besides being passionate about the fitness industry, you can also stop in and see her at Spaghetti Works downtown as she’s the General Manager there!

My personal mantra:
"Today is your day, own it!"

My training style is:
Energetic and Fun

My why:
Because it is truly the Best Hour of my day. I have taught at many places and TITLE is by far my favorite!

What gives me my fighting spirit:
As a cancer survivor I know that you only get one life, you own it. There are no do overs; live every day to the fullest!

Adam

Adam is an Army National Guard veteran.  During his service, he was recognized for his outstanding physical fitness by earning the Physical Fitness Badge for 3 consecutive years.  In high school, Adam was a track and field standout and went to state for the 100 meter dash.  Adam has several years of kickboxing training and currently trains and competes in mixed martial arts and jiu jitsu.

My personal mantra:
"There's always someone who has it worse."

My training style is:
Connected

My why:
I want to help people through their fitness journey as well as show people the beauty of boxing.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My training and experiences from the military

Juan

Juan was born in St. Louis, grew up in Des Moines and Iowa City, and moved to Los Angeles in 2008 until recently coming back to Des Moines. As a teenager he was drawn to individual-oriented sports and competed in Wrestling (Folk-style, Free-style, and Greco-Roman). He was a Folk-style state champion in Missouri  and a runner up in the state of Iowa (Greco-Roman) and also qualified for the junior Olympics. From wrestling, Juan found a passion for the learning and growth that come from martial arts which drew him to boxing, kick boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and the 52 blocks fighting system. With over 20 years of experience in martial arts, he’s trained with high-ranking martial artists and competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. Juan is honored to be a part of Title Boxing Club and to be given the opportunity to teach those who choose to step on the path of martial arts, and to bring out the best in people of all ages and help them fulfill their potentials.

My personal mantra:
I can't lift, eat, or jog for you. Only you can do it for yourself!

My training style is:
Transforming

My why:
I became a trainer for TITLE Boxing Club to help transform the minds and bodies of those who want more out of their lives.

What gives me my fighting spirit:
My will to succeed and be a living example to my friends and family for fitness IS my fighting spirit. To show it can be done, that you can reach your goals.

Our Club Leadership

Brad was born and raised in Mitchell, South Dakota. During high school he competed in wrestling, track, and cross country. He then went to Minnesota State University-Moorhead where he wrestled, completed Army ROTC and earned his Bachelor’s degree in political science.

After college, Brad served 15 years on active duty in the Army as a human resources officer. During this time he earned a Master of Business Administration degree and served in Korea, Iraq and multiple other locations around the U.S. Of these locations, he was fortunate enough to serve twice in Iowa and later decided to return to Des Moines after transitioning out of active duty.

Having a lifelong passion for health and fitness (and possibly watching Rocky movies a few too many times), Brad became a major enthusiast of the TITLE Boxing Club’s workout immediately after his first “Power Hour.” As such, he was determined on bringing this experience to Des Moines. Furthermore, he has taken great pride in finding an unbeatable and extremely talented staff that will undoubtedly provide every member and visitor a personalized experience they will not find anywhere else.

FAQ's

I’ve heard the classes are intense; do I need to be in great shape to do the workouts?

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked out in a while or have never boxed before, you can finish the workout feeling great! You’ll see that everyone goes at their own pace, but believe us that once you’re here, you’ll be inspired to give it your very best!

I don’t want to get hit; is this a contact workout?

No—not ever! Each person in class has their own heavy bag to workout on, plus their own space to move around the bag. Trust us, you won’t even realize anyone else is in the class because you’ll be so focused on the workout! And, rest easy, we never allow sparring or fighting at TITLE Boxing Club.

What makes TITLE different than other fitness studios?

Boxing is a great workout, perhaps one of the most challenging of all sports, and we want to bring you the intensity of the training, minus the impact. We’ll teach you how to roll with the punches by pushing you further than you thought possible.

I’m new to boxing; will someone show me the basics?

You bet! All of our classes are taught by instructors who will show you the ropes from the beginning. We’ll help you wrap your hands and walk you through the basic fundamentals. Everyone in class is at a different level, so take a deep breath and go at your own pace!

Can I bring my children with me?

We do not offer childcare services at TITLE Boxing Club. However, children over the age of eight are welcome to work out with you here and join as a member! Ask us about our Family Membership options.

What do I need to bring to class? How early do I need to arrive?

Hand wraps are essential for your protection and mandatory for class. You can bring your own or buy them here. We’ll have gloves for you to borrow your first time, and you might want to bring a bottle of water and towel! Plan on arriving 20 minutes early so we can get you settled and wrap your hands.

I’ve never hit anything before. Will I hurt myself?

For a beginner, the most important thing is to learn the proper form. The good news is that we’ll teach you! As you progress, you’ll be able to throw several variations of punches from different positions and develop your own punching technique to fit your style. People are usually surprised at how much they love hitting the heavy bag!

Can I try a class before joining?

Of course you can take classes before purchasing a membership. We have drop-in rates for single classes, three or six classes. These are great for people who travel often or want to try us out. You can choose our best value option and commit to a membership any time.

Do you have showers?

We do have a private shower for you to clean up after your workout and please bring any essentials you may need!
