I joined Title just after Thanksgiving in November of 2020. I lived in Westford my
entire life and saw Title when it first opened and never thought to myself that it would
soon have such a significant impact on my everyday life. For the past seven plus years I
struggled with a handful of mental illnesses that severely hindered my daily living.
Something I really found myself grappling with was eating and exercise. I would go on
crazy calorie restrictive diets and over exercise and it seemed like I could never find a
balance and this was just a normal routine I would deal with for the rest of my life. I was
never a person who would take “workout classes”, I simply thought running on a
treadmill for 30 minutes and doing light ab exercises would get me the “dream body” I
always strived for. I correlated my self-worth with what my body looked like, which
ultimately became a visual mind-body destructive cycle. After graduating from college
and moving back home I found myself going down a dark path again, and for whatever
reason felt the need to call Title Boxing of Littleton and came in for a tour. I signed up for
a class the following week and fell in love instantly. Title has shown me that exercise
doesn’t have to be about burning calories, or looking a certain way. Something about
feeling strong, pushing my body to its fullest potential, and seeing technique grow week
by week resonated with me and makes me keep coming back to learn and expand my
skills. I don’t exercise now because I want to look a certain way but because I want to
keep my body healthy and thriving. Same goes for food, I fuel my body with nutrients
instead of thinking of it as a burden. One really great thing that’s come from being a
member at Title in helping me with recovery was that I enjoyed the sport so much I
found myself eating so I could see improvement during classes which became a
catalyst for a new healthy lifestyle that was not a detriment to my physical or mental
health. Not only has Title made me stronger physically, but also mentally. Title has given
me a confidence I have never accessed within myself before, and I continue to find this
to be the most profitable result of joining the club.
The trainers at Title are extremely amicable, personable, and dedicated to each
member at the club. The trainers take the time to get to know each member, what their
goals are, and just simply what makes them unique. The trainers taking part in this
makes each individual who walks through the door feel welcome and wanted in the
club. Prior or post class the trainers often give feedback or offer techniques to try in
order to expand mastery of skills. Boxing is an intimidating sport, but having someone
who is not only kind and friendly but also knowledgeable helping for those 30-45-75
minutes makes a world of a difference.
Every member at Title also deserves their own recognition. Joining back in
November, I was welcomed into the club with open arms. From the second I stood at
the bag, members were cracking jokes or introducing themselves to me making the
experience less “frightening” for loose use of the term. From the BoxLit Facebook group
to day in and day out at the club, the members really make the club such a unique and
special place in my heart.
