Members of the Month: Debbi and Eric

Debbi’s Story

In early 2021, Eric and I started planning our wedding for summer of ‘22, which was great, until I looked in the mirror. It was then that I realized that the Covid 10 (ok probably more) was a real thing. I decided I needed to do something more than power walking. My friend Ines was constantly posting on Facebook about Title Boxing Club Littleton and how much fun it was. I decided to check it out and dragged Eric with me. As soon as I walked into Title Boxing Club Littleton, I was hooked. There was a class going on and it looked great….until I actually took the class. I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to survive and it was only 30 minutes long. I had no upper body strength at all. As much as I wanted to throw in the towel and quit after the first week, I didn’t. Six months later, I had gone to 100 classes and could do something close to a push up and plank for a minute. I was pretty proud of myself. A few months after that, I joined Ladies Lifting. My daughter had gone and assured me that even though I am old, I could do it.  I had never lifted weights in my life. Now it is 4 months later, and I can squat 100 lbs. I have taken well over 200 classes and I am in the best shape of my life. I want to mention the best thing about Title Boxing Club Littleton– the people. Every single trainer is amazing. Sometimes, I may secretly (or openly) curse them during class, but afterward am really happy that I went. I also want to mention the extremely patient & helpful ladies that I lift with. They took me in when class ended and never seem to mind lowering the weights for me. I have met so many great people, many of whom I call friends. I love seeing so many friendly faces when I walk in. Thank you everyone at Title Boxing Club Littleton – coaches and members for being such a huge part of my life & fitness journey.

Eric’s Story

My Title Boxing Club Littleton journey began at the same time as Debbi’s. Well, a little after actually. I knew I wanted to get into better shape for our wedding, but I had been experiencing chronic lower back pain for a few years and although the kickboxing aspect of Title Boxing Club Littleton really interested me, I wasn’t sure I could do it. I went with Debbi to check it out and left determined to at least try boxing and kickboxing. At first, the 30 minutes classes were daunting, but as I took class after class and began to see my overall fitness improve, I set a stretch goal to participate in Soto’s 75 minute Friday evening kickboxing. Eventually, I settled into a weekly routine, complete with a favorite bag location. Classes were still tough for me, but what really kept me going was all of the other members that I met and saw every week at the outside Taco Tuesday classes. Everyone was incredibly nice and super supportive. We started doing the “extras” – meeting for drinks at the Tiki Bar, going to Kimball’s for ice cream, and milestone dinners at Moe’s. I never did make it to a Friday night kickboxing with Soto, but I’ve made huge strides in my fitness and overall health. Now my back rarely bothers me, the 30 minute Saturday morning classes go by way too fast, a 45 minute class feels just about right, and the 60 minute Friday Night Fights are the highlight of the week. I still feel the support of all the instructors and my fellow members and it is my privilege to offer support and encouragement whenever new members come to class. I really feel like I’ve been welcomed into the Title Boxing Club Littleton Family and I am healthier and happier because of it.
