As a law enforcement officer, the year 2020 weighed heavily on my mental health.  I continued to go to work throughout the pandemic; and like so many others, the fears of getting sick or bringing the virus home to my loved ones took its toll on me.  I felt an immense amount of guilt for having a job, but even more guilt for not being able to see my friends and family at the same time.  My gym had closed its doors and my vacations were canceled.  All of the outlets I use to take care of my mental health were gone.  In addition to the pandemic, over the past year law enforcement, as a whole, has lost the trust and respect of many of the community members we serve.  For a profession I was so proud to become a part of, I had become reluctant to admit to it for fear of criticism.

Needless to say, when I walked into the club in January, I was mentally and emotionally beaten down and broken.  I needed a purpose and I needed a place where I felt welcomed.  Over the past six months, I have found exactly what I was looking for.  A positive atmosphere, space where I can feel safe, a place where I can be myself, in a community where I feel accepted.  In a short amount of time, my mental health has been able to heal and grow stronger, and now I am focused on those physical goals I want to get back to.

My goals are to take advantage of the knowledge and passion that every staff member has, learn from it, apply it, and become physically healthier while making some awesome friends along the way.

Right before the pandemic, I was doing good with my health and fitness.  I had just finished the fire academy and was prepared to continue a tough physical career.  The gym I was going to was holding my interest just enough to get me by.  As the pandemic hit and the gym closed its doors, I found myself slipping back into the bad habits of eating crappy and laying around too much.  Once gyms were able to open up again, I couldn’t get myself to go back to that gym.  Crystal joined Title Boxing Club Littleton and she was killing it never saying “ugh I have a class tonight” or “maybe I’ll skip today”.  She always came back excited about the workout and more importantly excited about the next one.  It took her a few months to convince me to stop being so lazy, get off my butt, and get back in shape.

Once I signed up and took a couple of classes, I started looking forward to working out again and trying to sign up for as many classes as possible. With my schedule, there are days I can’t make a class and I am actually disappointed about it.  The Staff is amazing, at no point did I feel like I was a burden to them or that they were annoyed that there are some things I can’t quite do yet.  There is a way to search classes by who is instructing but I haven’t found an instructor whose class I don’t want to take.  As for the other members of Title Boxing Club Littleton they have been just as amazing. Since day one of walking into Title Boxing Club Littleton, I have been welcomed with open arms.  This place is truly like a family and it has been the best environment to make and reach all fitness, health, and life goals

My goals here at Title Boxing Club Littleton are to constantly get better, to promote a long healthy life, have a long safe career, oh and punch some things in the process.
