Master Meal Prepping

Everywhere you look lately, it seems as though people are turning a new leaf and jabbing bad habits out of their lives. Even so, the CDC reports that almost one-third of American adults are suffering from obesity.

To change your weight, you must change your life! Working out every day will not change your life and weight unless you also change your diet. The best way to stay on track with your diet is to meal prep! We’ve put together a few things that help us succeed every week.

Make time

Meal prepping takes time. Pick a day that works best for you and carve out time to prepare and cook your meals for the week. You can cook various things at the same time to make it go faster. Don’t add stress to your first meal prep experience by trying to fit it into a small window of time. Turn on some music and make it fun!

Make a list

Walking into a grocery store without a plan and a specific list can be overwhelming and confusing. With so many food options,it’s hard to know where to start. Before you head to the store, take a few minutes to plan out your meals. Make a list of the items you need for those meals. We like to choose meals that use items we already have in our kitchens to make the prepping even easier!

Make it yummy

Probably the most important part of meal prepping in order to succeed at it is simple: make food you actually enjoy eating! Nothing will cause you to cheat or fall off the wagon faster than forcing yourself to eat food you don’t like.

Make it last

You might be thinking, “Why would I make all of this food when I won’t be able to eat it before it goes bad?” We agree! Don’t let that food go to waste. Buy in bulk, but be smart about it. Buying frozen fruits, veggies and protein (meat) will make it easier to make it last. Portion out what you need for that week and freeze the rest for next week.

Food is fuel for your mind, body and workouts. Meal prepping makes it easier to stay on track with your meals while making healthy choices. It also prevents you having to cook after a long day!
