Summer has arrived, and so has lake season; meaning long sunny days on the boat with friends, family and plenty of food!

Popular lake snacks consist of potato chips, candy bars, soda, cookies and more. Those snacks taste good but often don’t provide the energy and nutrients your body needs. We made a list of six healthy snacks to keep you on track and still have a fun day at the lake!

Fresh Fruits

One of the best snacks and healthiest snacks you can take. Easy to prepare and serve, reasonable price and refreshing.

Apples, bananas, grapes and berries are great options!

TIP: frozen grapes taste like candy. Perfect treat for a sunny day!

Trail Mix/Nuts

 You can buy them at the store or make your own with your ingredients.

Mix up almonds, cashews, peanuts, dried fruits, and seeds. Be creative!

TIP: and some dark chocolate chips to add a bit of sweetness.

 

Hard boiled eggs

Eggs are a great source of protein and easy to prepare. Make sure to keep your eggs refrigerated!

 

Raw Vegetables

These are a great source of vitamins and loaded with fiber. Baby carrots, broccoli, cauliflower,

sticks of raw cucumber and cherry tomatoes are good on-the-go options.

TIP: Pack your veggies in individual portions to make easier to serve, and keep them in the cooler to help keep the veggies cool and crisp.

Salad Jars

This is the most complete meal option on this list. If you have a little extra time to prepare your food, you should definitely give this a try!

Pile up your veggies, greens, protein and add-ins into a jar. You will have a meal packed with nutrients that will fuel you up during the long day at the lake.

TIP: Place your leafy greens on top. This will prevent your greens from becoming soggy.

String Cheese

Individually packed snacks = perfect for lake days. Plus, cheese is a great source of protein that will help you feeling satisfied longer.
