A SPORT FOR ALL AGES

I can already tell my cardio and how in-shape I am has improved tenfold, I can run longer and sustain energy longer than I could in the past…my reaction time is quicker too.

New TITLE Boxing Club 148 member, Mason Peterson, was looking for a way to stay physically and mentally sharp for his freshman year on the BYU lacrosse team when he walked through our doors. The collegiate athlete has had an interest in boxing for quite some time but wanted to wait until he was committed to a school before putting on a pair of gloves and seeing what the sport is all about. Today, Mason has been a part of the TITLE Fam for three weeks and attends several private training sessions a week with TITLE trainer, MJ.

What Mason values most about his training sessions is the improved skills and physical gains that also support his lacrosse career. “I can already tell my cardio and how in-shape I am has improved tenfold, I can run longer and sustain energy longer than I could in the past…my reaction time is quicker too,” Mason explained. In addition to the positive changes to his body and stamina, he also likes that boxing is an individual sport, as opposed to lacrosse, which is a team sport, “I still love lacrosse but with boxing, it’s only you and you put everything you got into it and depend only on yourself.” In fact, he’s come to enjoy the sport so much that when asked if he would ever consider boxing competitively he responded, “I’ve actually kind of considered it…we’ll see but MJ makes it really fun and I just love the competitive aspect.”

Besides connecting with the sport, Mason attributes his appreciation for boxing to his trainer, MJ. “He’s just a super nice and competitive guy, and he’s super knowledgeable so he has really pushed me,” he proclaimed. Clicking with his trainer has helped him feel comfortable and confident in his sessions, which is apparent considering Mason’s undeniable physical and mental results.

Experienced and passionate MJ has been blown away by the time and effort 18-year-old Mason has put into his training, “Mason is disciplined and puts in the work…he’s great,” MJ told us. MJ trains members of all ages and body types and believes that truly anyone can benefit from one on one training, “the better your technique, the better experience you’re going to have in class,” he explained. Not only does he find his clients having a more enjoyable class experience, but specifically in teens and kids, he sees an increase in coordination, confidence, and overall athletic ability that can be translated into any sport.

Young but incredibly resilient Mason took the plunge and tried out a sport he never thought he would try. He stepped outside of his comfort zone and found boxing to be incredibly beneficial to his life-long dream of playing collegiate lacrosse. It’s no secret that Mason is destined for greatness! The TITLE Fam will be behind you every step of the way, Mason!
