BOX FOR THE CURE

The music was cranked up, trainers on the mic pushing everyone and we rotated doing mitt work with members in the ring…everyone was pumped.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the TITLE Fam is doing what they can to help the cause. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women in the United States will have breast cancer in her lifetime. An even more horrific statistic is that approximately 1 in 39 women will die of the disease. What some may be surprised to find out is that men are also at risk, as The National Breast Cancer Foundation also claims that men are more likely than women to be diagnosed with advanced regional or distant-stage breast cancer, which is likely due to lack of awareness.

TITLE Boxing Club Summerville fought back against Breast Cancer by throwing an event to raise money and spread awareness amongst their TITLE community. On October 10th, members were invited to participate in 12 rounds of boxing and mitt work, which was led by an array of passionate trainers. It was all high energy and positive vibes as members, and a few participants new to TITLE, punched their hearts out for a cause. Assistant General Manager, Amanda, explained, “The music was cranked up, trainers on the mic pushing everyone and we rotated doing mitt work with members in the ring…everyone was pumped.” Despite pushing through 90 minutes of boxing, everyone stayed positive. When asked about the highlight of the day, Marketing Director, Aubrey, told us, “By the last few rounds, everyone had so much energy, which usually doesn’t happen, but they were giving it everything they had left and it was really cool to see.”

When the grueling workout finally came to an end, participants gathered with staff and reflected on what they had all just accomplished. When describing the end of the event, Aubrey told us, “Everyone just wanted to hang out and talk with us, which usually people don’t do after class, so it was really neat to see everyone interacting.” In addition, the club also encouraged donations to the American Cancer Society! However, good deeds did not stop there. A member noticed Aubrey taking photos and video footage during the class, and offered up his editing expertise to create a recap video of the event. Overall, the class was a success! Between the staff and the members, everyone stepped up and showed up to bring light to a disease that so many are affected by.
