Boxing: The Cardio You Have Always Needed

For many it’s difficult to find a type of cardio that is enjoyable. And while running, the stair-stepper, cycling, the elliptical and other types of cardio can get the job done, they often feel monotonous.

But don’t give up on cardio just yet. There is a solution to humdrum jogs or repetitive stair-steppers. And yes, you guessed it. It’s boxing.

Here are five reasons that boxing is the cardio you have always needed:

The fun factor. Bottom line, punching stuff is fun. Combine that with loud-music and a high-energy environment and you’rewell on the way to the best hour of your day. There isn’t much variety that takes place while you’re running but when you’re boxing each exchange, combo and round is different. It adds a fun-factor that can’t be touched by other types of cardio.

The workout. Have you ever been on the or on the bike and thought to yourself, “I’m sick of doing the same motion repeatedly,”? Well that is the beauty of a TITLE Boxing Club class. The warm-ups, rounds, active rest and core portions of the workout constantly keep you on your toes. Boxing combos keep you focused and more importantly interested in what you are doing. Not only are you having fun, you’re getting an incredible full-body workout.

The way it makes you feel. Ask anyone who has boxed before, there is a certain feeling associated with getting your hands wrapped for the first time. It starts there and doesn’t ever stop. Each time you focus on the combo and hit the bag it’s a feeling of power. You feel in control, you feel awesome. Boxing relieves stress, gives you confidence and those feelings stick with you far beyond the end of class.

The skills you learn. While other forms of cardio can increase your skills (cycling, running, rowing etc.) the technical skill taught to members at a boxing class is unique and empowering. Learning the types of punches, how to punch correctly, how to defend yourself and proper footwork are pieces to the technical puzzle that other types of cardio cannot produce. These skills such as hand speed and footwork also translate to other sports such as football and basketball.

The atmosphere. There are some group cycling classes and running groups that deliver exciting and fun experiences. But nothing quite compares to the sound of 40 power right hooks connecting with a 100 lb. heavy bag. Loud music, chains swinging and gutting out eight intense rounds with the rest of class isn’t something you can find anywhere else. Then add an inspiring trainer who has a great presence, holds everyone accountable and you have the magic of a boxing class at TITLE Boxing Club.

If you’re struggling to make it to the gym because you dread running or spending 40-minutes on the elliptical or bike, try switching your cardio to boxing. You’re going to love the way it makes you feel, how fun the workout is and the results you get from it.
