We all know someone who can eat a cheeseburger for every meal, never workout yet somehow never gain a pound. While those aren’t the healthiest of habits, chances are, they’re incredibly blessed in two areas: genetics and metabolism. We can’t change our genetics, but we can make smart choices to increase our metabolism.
There are basic ways to increase your metabolism; eat several small meals a day, get eight hours of sleep a night and drink a lot of water. Those are all great, but let’s talk about four other ways to punch up your metabolism!
Don’t just drink water throughout the day, start your day with a tall glass of ice water!
Research shows that when you start your day with a tall glass of ice water, it not only makes you feel full until breakfast, but your body has to work a little harder to warm up that cold warmer resulting in extra calories burned.
Spice it up!
Pick foods that bring a kick to your taste buds! Spicy foods boost your body’s production of heat! Our favorite ways to add some spice are with hot sauce on our eggs, red pepper flakes on chicken or avocado toast and spicy salsa!
Go Green!
Green tea has so many amazing health benefits for our bodies, and increasing your metabolism is just one! This is a great one to try while you’re at work. When that 2:00pm slump hits, grab some tea from the break room. The caffeine will power you through the day and you’ll be boosting your metabolism at the same time!
Dive into Omega-3s!
Omega-3s are another power-house for our bodies. In addition to brain and eye health, and helping with anxiety, omega-3s are great for boosting our metabolism! They increase your fat-burning enzymes when used in combination with exercise.
HIIT The Bag!
This one is our favorite! HIIT Training stands for “High Intensity Interval Training”. TITLE Boxing Club is a perfect example of HIIT Training. HIIT Training increases HGH (human growth hormone) production. Not only does this help you lose weight(not muscle) but it slows down aging and increases your metabolism. We’re not saying it’s the fountain of youth, but it’s pretty close with that combo.
The most important thing to increase your metabolism is to remain consistent. When you build healthy habits, you’ll see them pay off in a major way over time. You got this!
