Three Signs You’re Wrapping Your Hands Wrong

There are three things you’ll need before you start a TITLE Boxing Club workout.

  1. Hand wraps
  2. Gloves
  3. Positive Attitude

Unless you’re a professional or have boxing experience, you probably don’t know how to wrap your hands. No worries! We’re here to help you. You can always ask a trainer or TITLE Boxing Club staff member to help you wrap your hands.

It’s important to remember that hand wraps aren’t just there to make you feel like a pro, they’re really there to protect your hands and wrists. If you’re wrapping your hands incorrectly, you can be causing damage to yourself. We want you to have the best workout but also be protected so you can keep boxing for years to come.  You’ll see a noticeable difference in your punching during class and how you feel after!

There are three common ways to know you’re wrapping your hands wrong:

  1. The wrap is too loose if it is falling off your hand. It’s too tight if you feel numbness in your hand.
  2. If the wraps move too much on your hand as you punch. This will irritate the skin leaving a rash or skin breaks.
  3. Too much padding around the knuckles and fingers will make it so that you cannot make a complete fist.  This can cause your wrist to get injured from not properly being able to make a complete fist or close your hand leaving your wrist vulnerable to additional movement while punching.

So, what’s the correct way to wrap your hands? We’ve enlisted the help of TITLE Boxing Club Newbury Street in Boston to help show us the way.
