Who inspires you? Why?

It would be impossible for me to choose any one person that solely inspires me. I am constantly in awe of or inspired by people in my life whether they be members or clients working so hard on themselves in the gym, or my amazing mother whose strong will and integrity have motivated me my entire life, to my peers and training partners that push me to my physical and mental limits in class and in the ring. I find that everyone has something to offer in the form of inspiration and motivation.

Favorite quote:

“The two things in life you are in total control over are your attitude and your effort.” This reminds me that if I don’t like the way I feel or how a situation is going, I have the power to change that. I may not be able to control everything around me but I can be the best version of myself at a given moment.

My mantra:

It’s simple “be present”. The past is what it is, the future will be what it will be and the present is NOW. Being present when I teach, when I train, when I’m with loved ones, when I’m alone- it ensures that I am taking it all in.

Training style:

High-energy and FUN! You might feel like you’re dying but you’re definitely laughing as it happens. I find that I can get more out of people when their spirit is high and they can smile through the tough stuff.

My why:

For the love! The love of other people and seeing them happy. For the love of the sport and the strength it builds physically and mentally. And the love of self- I’m happy here meeting people and punching things.  I love the feeling of enjoying myself at work! Not everyone gets that in life.

What gives me my fighting spirit:

It’s part genetics- my mom is the strongest person I know and I learned to take on life as she does- with humor, intelligence, and the ability to be straightforward with people. Part ballerina mentality – my first career was as a professional ballet dancer and it was the hardest but most rewarding job. You are never perfect, you take criticism daily and you have to look like a beautiful, happy princess while simultaneously working your a$$ off on stage. The strength it gave me mentally has translated into all aspects of my life.  I can push through tough times, work hard as hell and come out with a smile on the other side.
